With an annual budget of approximately DKK 51 million in the 2011/12 season, The Danish National Opera works within the terms of a four-year framework agreement with the Danish Ministry of Culture. The General Manager is responsible for among other things the fulfilment of this agreement. The General Manager, who is also the Artistic Director of the opera, bears the overall artistic, economic and administrative responsibility for the activities of the opera, and refers directly to the Board.

We are seeking a high-profile, visionary General Manager with a wide network and the following qualifications:
· Good leadership qualities
· Experience with the management of artistic operations
· A clear artistic standpoint
· Extensive knowledge of the opera repertoire
· An ability to think differently and plan realistically
· Good cooperation skills and experience of thinking in terms of totalities with respect to both operations and repertoire
· A good understanding of the role of The Danish National Opera as a national cultural institution

The appointment will be for a fixed term of years governed by an individual contract. In the interim between confirmation of the engagement and taking up the position, the new General Manager will be expected to participate in the planning of the coming seasons. A separate agreement will be drawn up for thus interim period.

The present General Manager/Artistic Director of The Danish National Opera, the conductor Giordano Bellincampi, is retiring from the post at his own wish.
