The Danish National Opera has a number of vacant positions for tenor singers in the Chorus of the Danish National Opera and anticipates filling up to three permanent positions, to be taken up as of 21 March 2012 or by agreement. We are therefore holding singing auditions with a view to filling permanent positions and revising the list of assistants.
We are looking for singers with commitment and flexibility who can perform a broad spectrum of musical, stylistic, theatrical and vocal functions.
The auditions will affect the list of assistants as of January 2011. No one will be removed from the present assistant list, but it must be expected that relocations will be made as a result of the auditions. You can continue to be on the list without appearing at the auditions, but cannot be sure of retaining your ranking.
Application Applications must be submitted on the form below accompanied by a photo. The application form may be scanned in and submitted as a pdf file. The application must be received by the Danish National Opera no later than Friday 18 November 2011 at 12 noon. Forms may be downloaded from a link or from www.jyske-opera.dk.

Terms of payment and employment As per Dansk Kor Forbund (The Danish Federation of Professional Choruses).
Time and place of auditions Friday 9 December 2011 4 p.m. in the rehearsal rooms of the Danish National Opera at Frichsparken 38 F, Søren Frichsvej, 8230 Åbyhøj
Applicants are asked to register their arrival in the front office. Adjudicating panel The audition panel will assess the performances of the applicants and will consist of the following members: General and Artistic Director Giordano Bellincampi, Chorus Manager Tina Nielsen, 3 representatives of the Chorus of the Danish National Opera. In addition the audition panel will be supplemented with two observers: the union representative of the Chorus and an external vocal expert.
Preparation and process The audition consists of a single session. Participants will sing: 1. A self-chosen aria (max. 5 minutes) from the opera repertoire. The aria will be sung by heart. 2. An obligatory choral piece from the opera repertoire (to be sung by heart) 3. An obligatory choral piece from the rest of the choral repertoire (not to be sung by heart) 4. A piece sung at sight (seconda vista). The test pieces will be the two obligatory choral pieces sent by e-mail two weeks before the audition. Test piece (4) will be a sight-read (seconda vista) piece in the form of a short 4-part choral piece. The sight-read piece will be handed out at the audition venue and the Danish National Opera's pianist will play the first applicant's part, then all the parts in the piece, and finally the applicant will sing his or her own part with the other three parts as piano accompaniment.
Please note that the requirements of the audition cannot be waived. This includes the learning of the piece by heart.
Pianist The Danish National Opera will make a pianist available for the audition. Applicants are welcome to use their own pianist for the aria chosen by the applicant, but the Danish National Opera's pianist will accompany the obligatory test pieces. Applicants who wish to use accompaniment by the Danish National Opera's own pianist for the aria selected by the applicant are urged to submit the music in good time in advance so the pianist will be able to prepare.
